Every Monday, I chronicle posts I’ve found during the week that motivated or inspired me in some way. Some weeks I may not find much, so if I don’t post one of these one week, expect there to be a much longer one in the future.
But this week I decided to dedicate to a single video, one from RJ of the YouTube channel flourishingmusic79, titled “My Top Five – Personal Aphorisms (And Their Origins)
The video is about an hour long, but it’s perhaps one of the most useful I’ve watched in a long time. I’ve been following this channel for years now, found during my intense Magic the Gathering fandom. But his musings on other subjects are what keep bringing me back: music, AI, technology, programming, philosophy… this is one of the most eclectic YouTube channels out there.
I’ve been debating starting a channel similar to his, which are mostly live screen captures with voiceover. The videos are unscripted and while he goes down a ton of rabbit holes, his vast knowledge and insights on so many subjects are incredibly valuable to me.
If you don’t have an hour to spend watching the video, at least take note of the five aphorisms he lists in the video description. I know I needed to hear them this past week.
