Noughts and Crosses and Kitties

As Tom got the brand-new Leica SL3-S camera yesterday, she gave me her Leica Q3. Naturally, I wanted to take something really cool with it, and I had an idea of having my vinyl kitties from Sailor Moon – Luna, Artemis, and Diana – doing various activities. Tom suggested tic-tac-toe, and I immediately gravitated to that idea. Of course, I prefer the British name, noughts and crosses, which is why I titled this photo that way. In the photo, I wanted there to be a tie game of Noughts and Crosses, with little Diana looking on bemused. It took a lot of trial and error, but this is the final product for now. I plan on having them do a lot of other silly things around the house.

Now that I have the Q3, I need to constantly be on the lookout for photograph opportunities. I want to take photos of sort of unusual subjects and share them here on my website. While my photography has never been all that popular on line, it doesn’t mean that I should let my lack of popular interest dictate my actions. Really, the thinking behind this photo is that life often feels like an unwinnable game, and sometimes, like Luna and Artemis demonstrating this timeless game to their daughter, you’re going to reach an impasse. Then you just have to start over and take a different strategy and hope to stay one step ahead of those who would like to see you fail.
