Believing in the Beauty of Dreams

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

I think a lot about the future, because it’s good to look forward. Even when contemplating my past decisions and the paths I’ve taken, I’ve come to recognize the importance of considering the future. With its vast potential for possibility, the future holds within it the power to shape our lives in ways we can’t yet imagine.

The days yet to come are a blank canvas waiting for us to paint our dreams upon it. Yet, too often, we become so caught up in the present that we forget to look forward. Worst of all, sometimes we even forget to pursue our dreams, distracted by the daily grind and the present nuisances and concerns of the here and now.

We all have dreams, some of them which seem incredibly outrageous and unattainable. So, whenever I feel those dreams are becoming further out of reach I like to keep this Eleanor Roosevelt quote in mind: “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Sometimes, I think of dreams as things that we think about constantly, but simply use to inspire us to keep going in everyday life. But, believing in your dreams, actually embracing them and going full bore into working to realize them, is far harder to do.

In order for dreams to come true, you have to create something, a vehicle by which to pursue them. There has to be some way to make your dreams a reality, and finding that way can be a major struggle. Sure, there will be many failures along the way. But, as long as you use each one of those failures as a stepping stone, eventually you’ll find a way to keep your dreams alive. It’s worth the journey alone.

Perhaps we may never realize our dreams in the way that we first expect. But perhaps there’s something better, and more wonderful, our lives can become if we just keep at it. After all, dreams aren’t just about achieving success. Thinking about the future and visualizing our dreams also allows us to appreciate the present.

When we have a clear vision of where we’re headed, we can imbue the present with a sense of purpose and meaning. We can take pleasure in the small moments, knowing they are building blocks for a larger, more meaningful future. Visualizing the future as we want it to be allows us to take an active role in shaping the world around us. This sort of forward thinking empowers us to make a difference, create positive change, and gives us a chance to leave a lasting impact on the world. Not only do we have the power to create a better future for ourselves, but also our loved ones, as well as future generations.

Dreams are beautiful, the stuff of imagination and spirit. Don’t ever let them be snuffed out. Dream big, plan boldly, and work tirelessly to make them a reality. Take control of your life and work to shape your future in a way that brings joy, fulfillment, and meaning. When we look forward with hope and optimism, anything is possible.

If you can realize any of your dreams, a beautiful future is waiting for you, and those willing to share the journey with you. So, what journey are you on right now?
