Stowe is one of the more well-known towns in Vermont, home to over 100 ski trails. The town below is small, but has quite a few great places to eat and shop. One of the more attractive spots around Stowe is a covered walkway overlooking the West Branch of the Little River at the top end of the Stowe Recreation Path.
Photographed here, this covered walkway is the third successor to the covered walkway for the “Bridge St. Bridge” on Mountain Road that was replaced in 1943 with a concrete and steel bridge to serve increased traffic from trucks. That entire bridge was replaced in 2015, and the covered walkway seems to have been replaced, as well.
While Stowe, Vermont is best known for its ski resorts, but it’s also home to some great restaurants and shops. Also, if you’re a big ice cream fan, the town is just a dozen miles from the Ben and Jerry’s factory in Waterbury, Vermont. It’s also home to several other covered bridges, one of which is rather famous.
