Looking back on this life
Seen a story of drama
And so much needless strife
Now I see a panorama
Of new opportunity, rife
With chance, I gain new stamina
An inspiration, I need to be a shaker
Shake my own foundation
Take no mental vacation
I need to be a voice for my generation
Maybe a voice on a big radio station
I have a dream to fight degeneration
Of human hearts, souls & minds
That should be my vocation
I’ve made enough mistakes
A strong voice inside me awakes
I know I have what it takes
I don’t know where to start
But, I know in my heart
I must strive to take part
And be a world shaker
With my words of advice

I love this! Strong words.
Thanks, Laura! This is around the time when I really took off as a poet… my college years were really rough, but at least I got a lot of good poems out of them!
You’re welcome! I’ve found that rough years make for some great poetry myself. Luckily, good years also make for great poetry!
