This photo of the Retreat Tower in Brattleboro, Vermont was taken by me on May 22, 2021. The Tower was built in 1887 as part of the Brattleboro Retreat, a mental health institution which still exists today. It was meant to serve as a place of respite and contemplation for patients seeking solace and tranquility. When I first saw this Vermont landmark, I was struck by the tower’s the impressive height that makes it stand out among the surrounding trees. The hike to reach it was somewhat difficult for me, but taking this photo was worth the effort.
