Photophile Musings: “I Took a Journey to the Unknown”

"I Took a Journey to the Unknown" by Urban Exploration Photographer Thomas W.P. Slatin

When you’re exploring old urban areas, you never know what you’ll find. Thomas Slatin digs up all sorts of artifacts in his travels doing urban exploration photography. Take this piece discovered in an inner city backyard area. When I asked Thomas what this cool looking piece was, he says, “I have no idea, but it’s big and wooden, and heavy, and awesome!”

At first, this artifact looks ancient and mysterious. So, of course, being the curious dork I am, I did a similar interest search on Pinterest. According to my quick and dirty Pinterest research, it seems to resemble a very messed up Moroccan mirror. Is it any longer valuable? No, not with how long neglected it’s been.

Sure, someone may care to restore this apparent furniture piece eventually. Still, as it is, it’s a really cool conversation piece! It makes for an even better photograph, allowing all who view it to sit and wonder what it may truly be.
