Occupation: Writer

My name is Amelia Desertsong and I am a writer.

Well, that’s a way to start a resume, isn’t it? Of course, it’s not a terrible way to begin. Yes, that is my occupation: writer.

I‘ve ghostwritten for a wide variety of folks for a very long time. For the most part, I only dabbled in web writing until 2012, when I got extremely serious about writing on nothing. I also tend to have a serious case of verbal diarrhea, especially in written form!

My hobbies include pondering the meaning of life, writing poetry, making up goofy nonsense to make people laugh, and consistently finding ways to ruin things in the microwave. As far as my favorite food or drink, it’s hard for me to choose. I like so many different flavors in my life, but I’ll just say pizza and get it over with.

I could list a whole bunch of people that I’ve written for. The list of links I’d have to make for my online presence alone would be a massive volume unto itself. I just write what I write. For me, being a writer is more than just an occupation. From the moment I picked up a crayon and began to scribble out words on paper, I became a writer.

A writer breathes writing, lives writing, eats and drinks writing. It is an omnipresent thing. Even when you aren’t physically writing, your mind is still writing within your subconscious.

Now this is beginning to sound like a college essay…

In any case, the next chance you get to put Writer as your Occupation, remember that Writing is not merely an occupation, it is Life.

Writing words, spreading love, Amelia Desertsong primarily writes creative nonfiction articles, as well as dabbling in baseball, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and whatever else tickles her fancy.
