In Passing (Poetry)

purple crocus in bloom during daytime

In passing, I wonder
What is lost to the world
What was known of you
And what was not
The balance of what remains
What to make of your legacy
Will remain an unanswered question

To recall at once
All those times spent
The impressions they left
This was not the whole
Of you at all, of course
But, the balance remains
A wonderful mystery

A sort of memorial
To what I’ll never know
What you will never know
Of me and what is to be
But is to have no future
Truly a loss for you
Much as it is for me
