Richmil Ranch, Arapahoe County, Colorado, near Byers and Deer Trail, May 2015

Nestled amidst the rolling hills and vast plains of Arapahoe County, Colorado, lies the picturesque and serene Richmil Ranch. This sprawling oasis of natural beauty is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike, offering a stunning escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This was one of the first locations I visited in my first days exploring Colorado in May 2015, the state that would be my home for nearly five years. As I wandered along the winding trails that weave through the Ranch, my senses were treated to a veritable feast of sights, sounds, and smells. The air is alive with the sweet fragrance of wildflowers and the crisp tang of pine, while the gentle rustling of leaves and the chirping of birds provides a soothing soundtrack to the peaceful surroundings.

Located just a stone’s throw away from the towns of Byers and Deer Trail, Richmil Ranch boasts an impressive array of flora and fauna, including towering cottonwood trees, wildflowers in a riot of colors, and majestic wildlife such as deer, elk, and coyotes. The landscape of this stunning ranch is as varied as it is breathtaking, with expansive grasslands and verdant meadows.

Perhaps the most magical thing about Richmil Ranch is the sense of peace and tranquility that permeates every inch of the property. Whether strolling along a shaded path or sitting quietly by a babbling brook, visitors can’t help but feel a deep connection to the natural world around them. This idyllic retreat testifies to the enduring beauty of the American Midwest.
